Photography Mini-Class Night 11.7.2012

The Communications Committee hosted the Photography Mini-Class Night on Wednesday, November 11th. Three of our very talented MBASA photographers shared their expertise and tips for taking better photographs and editing them afterwards. A BIG thank you to our wonderful teachers! We learned so much!

Basic Photography & Composition

Blaire Ostler taught our Basic Photography and Composition class. She covered topics like exposure, lighting, aperture, Fstops, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and her "be's of composition."

Photographing Babies & Young Kids

Madelyn Wayment taught us how to capture family photos, both with newborns and young children. She taught us how to be prepared when taking photographs of children (like using attention getters, bribes, and enlisting help) and how to become friends with our subjects so that they will trust us to take their photograph. Her biggest tip was to try to allow the child's real personality to come through their photographs.

Basic Photo Editing

Calista Perazzo taught our class on basic photo editing, covering both PicMonkey (a free editing resource) and Photoshop. She started with the Editing Order of Operations: fix lighting and exposure, fix blemishes, and then have fun with effects.

Thanks to everyone who came out and again, a HUGE thanks to our wonderful teachers!

Spouse Spotlights Night 10.30.2012

Do you know how awesome the spouses of MBASA are? If not, you should head over to our Spotlights page to read about the amazing and diverse women who make up our community.

The Spouse Spotlights Night was put on by the Communications Committee and the Guru Program as a way to get to know each other better; we want all the spouses to recognize faces and learn names and feel like they have a place here.

We started out the evening with a little "Speed Friendshipping" where we got to learn more about each other one-on-one. We interspersed that with "Spotlight Trivia" where we asked questions based on the submitted spotlights. We got every question right!

We also held a drawing for those who had submitted a spotlight. We had three prizes and three winners: Bitsy Tesimale, Anne Durham, and Debora Mijanos.

Thanks to everyone who came to our activity!
